Alternative Dispute Resolution

I am a broadly experienced and versatile arbitrator, mediator, general counsel and educator in private practice with the Dallas, Texas office of Culhane Meadows PLLC.  I have over 35 years of diverse professional experience serving as arbitrator or mediator and as in-house and outside counsel to small, mid-sized and large businesses, both publicly owned and privately held, in a number of different industries.   Over the last 12 years, I have taught arbitration, mediation and other legal subjects at the undergraduate and law school levels.

I have substantial experience in manufacturing, educational publishing, and insurance and reinsurance.  I also have significant experience in a number of other industries, including real estate and oil & gas.

My practice has included corporate organization and governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities, insurance, reinsurance and other financial transactions, regulatory and legislative, labor and employment, intellectual property, real estate and construction, oil and gas, estate and probate, and contracts of all types.

I managed litigation dockets throughout my in-house career and actively participated in regulatory actions, actual and threatened class actions, insurance and reinsurance disputes, labor and employment claims, and complex commercial cases involving contracts, manufacturing relationships, intellectual property rights and royalties.  I used arbitration and mediation extensively and successfully.

Philosophy

Legal disputes should be resolved efficiently and effectively via a procedure that provides fairness and due process. The parties should leave feeling that they had their say even if they did not get everything they wanted.  In most cases, intelligent use of arbitration or mediation will bring the parties to a more effective resolution faster and at lower cost.
